enjoying the bright days

Hot clammy days and nights. I do like the sun, I am not complaining, but my head is waiting for a storm. I seem to have a built in weather vane. My head clouds over and aches a little until a good dose of thunder and lightening release the pressure. I trust you are enjoying the bright days.

The happy skies have given me a burst of energy so while I am feeling inspired I have a little shop update. Some pretty post card sets.

Just thought I would say a quick thank you to everyone who has taken the time to say hi and send me sweet wishes via comments and emails, I will get around to individual hello's but for now enjoy the rest of your week, have you ben out in the sunshine at all?

visual notes on a Sunday back at home

Walking and eating. Making the most of the sunshine before I have to go back to work. I found a heart inside my strawberry. I miss my bike. I love this poster!

Ireland was. . . . . .Cosy

Lovely perfect days spent with my Mum and two sisters Tamzin and Leah, and not forgetting the doggies Tilly and Jake. I have laughed so much my abdominal muscles are sore. Didn't want to come home just yet.

Ireland was. . . . . .Green

I'm back. I'm home. Thanks so much for all the sweet comments I received whilst away.

This is how we spent our time. Out in the fresh air. Walking through woods. taking the dogs out. Trampling through fields. Strolling by the river.

bye for now.

It has been an eat all day kind of day. Yummy breakfast bacon, eggs, fresh pressed coffee and caramel shake. Pate on toast and tea for lunch. Salt. pepper and butter corn for supper. Topped off with an ice cold glass of coke with a twist of lime. Might even make time for a hot chocolate before bed.

A friend gave me another lovely bunch of raggedy stocks on Friday, pink and white this time. Our little home is all bright with sunshine and flowers, we didn't even leave the house once today.

But I will be leaving tomorrow, leaving to spend the week with my sisters and mum in Ireland. I am so excited. Hope those irish rain clouds disappear. I will be back with pictures and words maybe during the week maybe I will save it for my return on Saturday.

I hope you have had a great weekend and will enjoy a happy next week.

bye for now.

books on my list 1

Summer just brings out the colours in me and top of my must have reading list is Sense of style Colour by Shannon Fricke. I want to dive right into the beautiful photos (taken by Prue Ruscoe) and soak up all the shades and tones strewn throughout its wonderful pages.

the lawn

So sunny and bright today, if I didn't have to work later and if I had a garden I would put on a pair of exquisite Jennifer Morris earrings, drag a beautiful rug outside and have me a little sunshine party on the lawn. Ginger wine punch and cucumber sandwiches anybody?

notes and doodles

I discovered these and many more beautiful illustrations by super tallented Jenny Bowers today via selvedge magazine. If I could draw like this I would fill stacks of journals, my own handmade library, piled high with felt pen decorated pages.

I used to make nonsense story books as a kid, using my Dads computer paper, fastening the pages with sellotape then scribbling with pencils and pens. I loved screwing up the paper then listening to the crunch as you smoothed it flat again. I still love crunching paper. I scrunched some when there was no one around at work today.

tears of joy over Spilled Milk.

I am so excited this evening to post about the debut edition of lovely Marie Lid Aske's online magazine Spilled Milk. Marie asked me a while ago if I would like Record the day to be featured in her first issue. I said yes, and I am thrilled with how it turned out. There are so many wonderful pages it was all I could do not to feature the entire magazine here. Spilled milk features bloggers, designers, fashion lovers, photographers and artists of every kind. I am so proud to be a part of this first issue, and hope to read many more. Thanks Marie!

There is a blog too where I am sure you can find out all Marie's latest discoveries. So hop on over its the perfect way to while away some time this or any evening. Have fun.

Happy midweek.

This is the kind of thing I had in mind for my kitchen walls, this pretty display is from food and interior stylist Sweet Paul.

Blue and yellow

Little blue jar from an old junk shop, the newest edition to my blue and white china collection, and its new best friends a happy bunch of freesias. I love the look of yellow against blue.

Wondering what to put on the kitchen walls next. I might take down all the frames and patch up our poor paintwork. Thinking of having something a bit more symmetrical. I do have a big old frame that would make a beautiful notice board or I could hang my blue plates but I think I like eating off them too much.

Will make a decision soon.
