Weekend things

This weekend I made a new little friend, ate freshly toasted bread with lashings of lemon curd in amongst my paper scraps, walked the beach, trudged the woods and visited the sad remains of our pier. Fresh air and much needed sunshine.

Cutting and sticking

How is everyone? I had a lovely weekend, managed to resist the call of the bottle as all my friends went out to watch the first England game at a bar, I stayed in and watched silly movies and ate fish and chips with a fellow world cup disowner. Sunday was spent drinking homemade smoothies, eating peanut butter smothered muffins, and adding a few items to my clothes line of inspiration in the kitchen. A little too much TV, but with no garden or the will to attempt the short walk to the beach, home we stayed. More football ensued.

The world cup is taking over here indoors too so I have been using the time to form orderly volumes of beauty, cutting and sticking all the recipes and interior image scraps the are in piles all over the house, driving my husband up the wall. But disaster has struck and I have run out of double sided tape. This would never have happened on Blue Peter. Maybe I can get some delivered with my groceries?

I hope this weekend saw you pick up where you left off on creative projects and you didn't waste too many hours with television like me, we need to make the most of balmy light evenings and early sunrise wake up calls, don't you think?

Dashing home

Vases, jars and bottles filled with jolly flowers. My colourful table top garden including the last of the lilacs. We had beautiful weather this weekend, I hope you did too.
I went to see SATC with two of my friends and then to a bar for a couple of drinks. With the backdrop of cloud splitting lightening flashes and distant rumbling thunder I dashed home trying to stay under cover from the torrential rain. I have to admit I'm an admirer of dramatic weather.
Sunday was unexpectedly sunny so I dragged the husband out of bed and for a walk (he had a few more drinks than me), gathering local cheeses and fresh bread for lunch and a stack of vintage tea plates for my next tea party.

3 day weekend

So, another three day weekend and it's pouring outside, which in my book is a good thing, cosy indoors with a warm spiced lamb salad and cup of lavender tea. Filing the collection of magazine scraps I have gathered over the last few months.

I am hoping these lovely artists studio pictures by Paul Barbera will inspire me to get in that workroom and make something, his site where they create is a treasure trove of creative environments. Hope they will inspire you too.

Eat Me

Party planning for the weekend, I need to make a chocolate dinosaur for a friends little girl in the style of George from Peppa Pig, and for Saturday night's cocktail party I am thinking Margarita cupcakes from the oh so pretty book Eat Me by Xanthe Milton. This book is so pretty and full of magical recipes perfect for a fairytale bake sale.

I am on the run this morning late for work as usual.

Rushed off my feet so far this week, with the end of the tax year looming and Easter bank holiday in a few days, work has been hideous. Have been looking through the pictures I took when Company magazine visited and thought I would share some of my photos from the day and a quick flash of the article.

Have you any plans for the weekend? As I am sure you know, I love any kind of celebration and hope to bake and ice some fondant fancies for my friends. I love the idea of Easter cake and egg hunts, pretty foil wrappers and chocolate rabbits.

I have a fancy dress party to go to on Saturday and also hope I will be able to sneak a few hours in with my husband before he heads off to New Jersey for a few days next week. So jealous of his proximity to NYC it is unreal. Then there is the building of that new blog and I will looking for small boutiques and blogs for sponsors. Watch this space for more news.

Wreaths and wishes

Happy Monday everyone I hope your weekend was filled with sunshine and happiness. My husband has been away again at a trade show in Taiwan so I have actually been back in my work room, getting the feel for making a few more things as its only two more weeks until I drop a day at the bank. Hooray! Some tiny blossom adorned wreaths have been added to the shop to bring the first days of spring ever closer to home.

Blinkers

I know many of you loved my frilled dress from a few posts ago so here is a little collection of shear spring delicates that can be layered together from Topshop. The shopping centre is a danger zone for me and my credit card at the moment. Probably need to get some blinkers fitted to stop me peeking in the windows and seeing all the pretty dresses on display.

I had such a lazy weekend, never even got out of my pyjamas or left the house. I need to get up and baking soon and then get out in that beautiful sunshine that is blazing through my windows. Have a great Monday I hope you haven't all had to work?

changing spaces

I love the wonder on the faces of the train passengers as they get off the train at Carlisle station after one of Homebase's guerilla makeovers. How fun would it be to randomly do one of these makeovers in your neighbourhood? Maybe I will take on a park bench or bus shelter of my own when warmer weather finally arrives.

Sweet apples

I can't believe it is Thursday already. I had such a lovely weekend, chilly but lovely, we spent Sunday in Lewes. Breakfast at Bills, I had grilled vine tomatoes - rocket, basil and balasamic on toasted sourdough. We peeked in a few shops, then came home. A rosy setting sun and supper from Middle Farm. Sweet apples with bread and cheese. The rest of the week has flown by. I am so looking forward to Spring, this new cold snap is lasting so long.

dress like a sailor

We had a super fun and delicious dinner at a friends on Saturday evening. Then up early on Sunday feeling nautical I decided to wear the new dress that I got for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. Braved the red tights to nip out and grab breakfast, an apple tart and cinnamon caramel milk.

If only the weekend could last a couple more days.

A freezing cold Sunday morning in Ireland. Today I have enjoyed visiting other people. Here are my favourites for today.

Will I ever see the sky again

Snow, rain and now thick fog. I am forgetting what it is to see a blue sky, and so is my camera. An evening with my friends on Saturday saw the wine glasses emptying and topped up a little too quickly and I woke up yesterday with the feeling that someone had sunk an anchor into my head. I am not a big wine drinker and now I remember why. A good time was had so I am not complaining. I just feel a little resentful towards myself for not having my Sunday with a crisp clear mind. But there is always next week.

I spent a few hours spent peacefully stitching by beloved glass beads to some vintage lace yesterday so all was not lost, and now the sun has just appeared through the clearing fog. Happy Monday to you.
