Homeward bound

This morning I have been delving deeper into the beautiful living spaces of my Etsy favorites. First up Alice Saunders of Forest bound. Designer and maker of beautiful bags and accessories. Alice's home is a calm space, with accents of wood and a soft blue on the walls that makes me want to stay home and decorate rather than go to work. See more and be inspired over at Alice's Flickr and Blog.

In love with lilacs

Vases of these wonderful flowers in every room. I am so in love with lilacs. Giddy with happiness the day I returned home with them, so glad such simple things complete my life. Already a little sad that their short life will be over before long, I still smile each time I walk in and see them. What are your favorite flowers?

Things that inspire

I have been finding time to put together a few more Estate sale boxes. This is the first one and I just love the contents. So pretty like a summer garden.

thanks Dad x

A sunny four mile round trip on foot to acquire a basket brimming with beautiful lilacs. My little ipod the soundtrack to my day. Bob Dylan on the uphill stint. Fred Astaire while the ducks bobbed up and down on the lake. Fleet Foxes as the sun turns my sheer skirt transparent and Led zeppelin as I clipped the branches. Thanks to my Dad for sharing his garden with me. If only Mum was nearer I would have popped in and left a big bunch of these in a vase on her table for her. More about these pretty little flowers later. I am late again!
bye x

Sun and lilacs

Sunny happy Sunday. The laundry is done. The kitchen is clean. The bed is made. I am leaving to walk in the sun and clip some lilacs from my Dads garden. Heres wishing you a lovely day too x

Made by Hank

Just popping my head in to say thanks for your lovely comments about my castle visit. It was such a lovely day. I just don't know where this week has gone? I hope this Sunday is as sunny.

I also had to post about these beautiful bags. All are hand stitched by Katie Henry and are available from Katies shop. Found via chelsea's blog.

I am also quite taken with the simple outfit used in the styling of these photos.

Castle garden

Just revisiting my day out that was Sunday. Spent with my family at Leeds castle in Kent. Wish I was outside again today. There was blossom of all kinds. The interior was amazing. Tapestries and oil paintings. Lovely guides sharing their knowledge. A maze and an underground grotto intricately decorated with shells and sea plants. Plus a side order of lots and lots of sunshine. Wonderful day.

The curse of the peacock feather

I am not usually a believer of good luck, bad luck stuff. I have broken enough mirrors in my life to be cursed forever. I laugh heartily at my husband as he skirts round three drain covers in a row and crosses his fingers at all kinds of nonsense. I started the day with my rose tinted specs on as usual. The pretty remains of last nights dinner party in honor of my dads birthday looked so sweet on the table.

But after picking up a couple of peacock feathers on a visit to Leeds Castle yesterday and bringing them under my roof its all gone wrong.

This morning I was hopeful. The sun was shining I was up early. Planing on spending the morning with a friend and her daughters. I arrived at the bus station in good time. Reading as I waited in the warm sun for the country bus.

8.30 no bus. No sign of bus. No "sorry there will be no bus". 9.30 next bus comes. Buy ticket for specified destination. Speedily pass turning for my stop. Realise this rookie driver has no intention of even nearing the place I need to go. Disembark at next available stop before I end up in another county. Not in the mood for spur of the moment hitch hiking I desperately call upon the mercy of my friend and am thankfully collected from my roadside position.

What an idiot. The route clearly says it should take my turn. I have caught this bus many times before. The ticket named my stop. He wasn't even sorry. Left me stranded in the middle of nowhere. I feel a very bitter letter of complaint and the booking of some driving lessons coming on.

So now I am now back home and in the last photo is the innocent image of a pretty pudding, no? An afternoon treat. Pretty and delicate wisps of cream and sugar. Okay not so innocent. Maybe even decadent for a Monday. Well as it turns out. The curse continues. Most of it ended up in my lap.

Should I let down the blinds and crawl back in to bed now, or just put the feathers out?

I hope you are having a better monday?

yesterday
