Float in to next spring

Once upon a Monday, I saw these beautiful dresses by Alberta Ferretti. I get so inspired by sheer fabric and lace overlaying. Billowing chiffon with beautiful details. Clothes so delicate they look as though they might pale to dust in a strong wind. Just the kind of thing modern fairy tales are made of.

Next seasons role models 2011

The sixties sweetheart, a modern day Mia Farrow circa Rosemary's Baby and A Dandy in Aspic. Knees and elbows showing. Seen at BCBG Max Azria
The tough on the outside wild child aka Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver. Flimsy flashy flamboyant head wear and 70's dresses. Care of Marc Jacobs.
The fragile beauty, Angelina Jolie in the changeling. Creamy satin, floral silk and chiffon longline layers. All over the runway at Donna Karen. Have fun dressing up!

Hang on to Summer

If my embracing Autumn was too soon for you and you are wanting to hang on to Summer a little longer, these beautiful photographs by Nan Lawson will keep the sunshine season alive long after the first leaves start to gather at the sides of the road.

I have a friend who can draw good

I am rubbish at drawing so naturally I am way excited that I have a friend who is so good at it. Meet Mitch Blunt.

Have a great weekend!

J'adore Dior

Although I love Autumn, it seems to have arrived decidedly early. Murky skies and a cold wind, the need for a scarf to keep the chill from my decolletage. Maybe it is just how this week is going to go and the sun will return again, but I just get a feeling.
These catwalk outfits from the Dior AW 2010 couture collection retain the vibrant colours of high summer with opportunity for adding cosiness with woollen wraps and jackets, and no one loves to layer up with a cardigan fastened shut with a corsage or vintage brooch more than me.

Something Shiny for thursday

Adore these F-Scott Fitzgerald book jackets by senior cover designer at Penguin Books Coralie Bickford-Smith found via 100 Layer Cake. Adds a new flourish to one of my favourite books-The Great Gatsby, I can't wait to get a copy or maybe the whole set.

Noa Noa for Autumn

Noa Noa's new Autumn collection is a patchwork of thunder cloud greys, greens and dark dusky layers with accents of vintage sparkle and berry colours, ready to view online now.

Hoardings

As you will know I am a great lover of Style.com. All those wonderful fashion collections under one roof. I trawl through images full of colour and dream fabrics, and I save them for future posts. These however got filed without labels or words and I am not 100% on all the designers. So I have gathered them all together for this post. Some coral a little sparkle, some that swish and others that float, nipped in waists, delicate layering. Some subtle and a lot of brights. All my favourite things.

It is another perfect day out but I need to list my life on Ebay to make some much needed space for when we (hopefully) eventually put our house on the market later this year. I will try to make a break and retreat out in to the sunshine for an iced coffee later, I wonder who I can find to join me?

Bed time stories

Delicate frothy pieces of barely there Christian Dior fabric, just right for layering up with heavy knits. No need to leave the house just grab a favourite old book, a champagne saucer full of milk and take yourself off to a cosy corner.

Fleeting florals

Today was the ultimate dreary day, first day back at work, never-ending with customers because of the bank holiday, and to complete the miserable mood, thunderous rain clouds hanging all around the skyline.

Thought I would cheer myself up (and you if tuesday was mean to you too) with a wardrobes worth of lolita-esque fleeting florals inspired by these beautiful patchwork style wall tiles from Welbeck. I don't need wall tiles but I would definitely order a few to use a coasters for my morning cup of tea. Okay okay, enough for tea with ten friends.

Colour burst

A final colour burst before hitting the colour trail myself next week when (volcano permitting) we should be in Marrakech. I was just over at Design sponge seeing what I had missed over the past week or so and found this amazing interiors shoot of the Buenos Aires studio belonging to the super talented Lula Aldunate and her sister Rocio. Take a look at the beautiful party styling in the bottom picture.

Wishing you all a super weekend and hopefully I will be back next Sunday.

Wednesday things

Wednesday things that will make you smile.

Lovely things and a pretty dress to wear whilst doing them.

Parasols and swimming caps

The new range from Noa Noa is so pretty and in all my favourite summer colours of coral, powder blue and champagne.

We used to have a swimming cap like this at school for when you forgot your own, and I tell you now, I felt way less than glamourous when I was forced to wear it!

Something pretty for a Monday morning. So many beautiful details on these gowns by Zuhair Murad. I love the delicate glistening antique feel of them all.
