Les Senteurs

Yes I enjoyed this film very much. It was not quite as pretty or as indulgent as Marie Antoinette, but just as bitter sweet. Can't quite imagine having to put up with a husband from back then! I lucked out with mine. But I expect unfortunately, that there are quite a few Duke of Devonshire types still about.

16. My quest for that scent is still on and more fevered than ever! I have discovered via a very well timed Vogue article Les Senteurs and their great sample ordering service. I will let you know how it turns out. Maybe I'll discover a perfume fit for a duchess. Next on the list, a ludicrous wig.

Have a glorious weekend.

Corsets and chocolate

Oops missed a day, sorry! Nearly made it to 16 posts in a row. Think I'll post twice today to make up for it. But I made it out of the house, I went with a friend to our local independent cinema to see the Duchess last night. I took with me some delicious chocolates that my sister made. Splendid.

15. I am always at least five minutes late for work. Today is no exception.

Big smile

Thank you so much for all your lovely messages yesterday they warmed my heart and plumped my soul. It was so very cold outside, I just stayed home, packed and shipped all my Etsy orders and got lots of other things done, fun stuff and chores, it really is one of my favorite things, to stay at home by myself. Later, we ventured out into the frosty evening for a delicious home cooked meal with my family, my Dad really is a great cook.

Of course I am thrilled to meet up with friends or family and when I actually make the effort I have such fun. But just lately I think I may be becoming more reclusive than ever. I have to force myself out to visit people sometimes. I wonder if I am online too much? Just at home and the husband the only other face I see. I feel like I should be getting a dose of cabin fever but I am happier than ever, who needs to leave the house when there is a hoard of port and cheese? Must just be the season, I'm hoping anyway!? When we have longer sun ups and cardigan, not coat weather, I will make more trips out into civilization.

14. For my birthday amongst other things I received a beautiful cardigan from Toast, a family recipe, a pair of berry coloured suede gloves and a necklace that belonged to a close friend. (She hardly ever wore it and as I loved it so much passed it on to me.) yay! What is the sweetest thing someone has given or done for you?

A giant ball of twine

13. I am 31 today.

On my birthday wish list are . . . . .

A giant ball of twine, a simple posy of flowers and for the snow to stay a little longer.

A simple lunch

A simple lunch, a little light reading or looking as I can't read Danish, a delightful surprise and something new.

Thanks for all you comments and perfume experiences, now I can't wait to go out on a practical exercise and investigate further!

12. One of my favorite songs is "poppa don't preach to me" sung by Lena Horne.

Snowfall

A small Shop update today, between cooking and staring out of my windows at the wonder of snowfall. It looks so pretty. Hope it lasts a little while.

11. I am eternally searching for a signature perfume. Just for me. The One. It still eludes me.

What's your favorite perfume or scent? I promise I won't steal it : )

Camera shy

Hectic day. Rummaging in lofts, moving furniture, framing pictures that have been waiting their turn to adorn our walls and cooking extra meals to keep for days with less time.

I am going to update my shop tomorrow morning, from the comfort of our cosy kitchen with a cup of sweet hot spiced tea, all the while keeping another cup warm for the return of my crazy husband who will be out running (most likely in a blizzard).

10. I hate having my picture taken. Thats how come you don't get to see my face around here much.

Have a fantastic evening whatever you are doing. Bye for now.

country bus

Its all about postcards today, the mini art works for the show are mounted and ready to hand in and my printed cards are here too, packaged and ready to hopefully go in the shop tomorrow.
There is supposedly snow afoot, so I am heading out on a good old country bus ride to visit a few remote friends before the roads get icy. Have a splendid Friday.

9. I can only eat eggs over cooked. Boiled scrambled fried. Make mine with a yolk as dry as a bone.

Pretty pages

This post over at {frolic!} got me thinking about my favorite magazines and I have stacks of them piling up at home. The magazine fast of last year is truly over and more and more titles have been creeping back into the house. But the dreamiest one is Lula, it really appeals to my romantic nature.

8.I like to try and recycle old unusual words that are seldom used nowadays. Its fun when I have blended them into everyday life and my friends start using them too. I loved reading the legal papers when we bought our house. It explained things as if we were living in Shakespearian times.

Snugs

Red ribbons threading in and out of pretty paper hearts and a dash of antique lace. One of many wonderful commissions created by Emma Cassi, this time a shop window display for a delightful tea shop.

7. The first thing I do every day when I get in from work is change into my pajamas. We call them snugs.

The girl with white hair

6. Sometimes I miss being blonde. Crazy white peroxide blonde.

Bright yellow

Left to my own devices tonight watching university challenge, which when I actually get a question right (not often!) excites me immensely, eating dinner AND I'm ashamed to whisper, all of the remaining strawberry creams. Uh oh now I feel rather sick.

5. I am not afraid to quit something. The up side of this, I don't smoke any more, the down side there are a lot of half finished projects laying around my creative space.

Hope you haven't overindulged and your Mondays have been good all round?

Rainy days are sometimes the best

Rain splashing. Fresh coffee. Papers piled high. The melody of human voices. Waves crashing beyond a bustling cafe. Then the quiet of home.

4. I love helping my friends clean and re-organize their houses but have to really psyche myself up to do my own.

Learning is such fun

Found notes, being shy to say "I", sweet little birds, teeny feet, over organized, ginger cats, beginning books, wish myths, lemon grass shrimp, cheese of all types, commercials, stolen bed clothes, wow! so many great things and so many we have in common although I know nothing about motor cars! I have loved your responses, thank you for taking part. I find this a very addictive and want to hear more.

Fact 2 Although my life's not perfect I do enjoy making the most of every day.

A little bit of optimism

Long tiring day. I am a generally cheerful person, but sometimes smiling all day really does take it out of you. January people are so grumpy. Roll on March I say. Spring bulbs, sun in the mornings, all the tree's coming back to life. A little bit of optimism.

I'm just so glad I get to come home spend time with my friends and family and read about you folk getting the most out of each day.
I have been tagged over on flickr by Melissa to reveal 16 facts about myself. 16 is quite a lot, so while I was thinking about it, I set myself a little challenge, I will try to post a fact a day sixteen days in a row.

Here is number 1. I think my favorite food is dark chocolate. But I could not live without bread and cheese.

Instead of tagging individual people I would love it if you posted some random facts about yourself in my comments so I can get to know you all a little better.
