Fashion pilgrimage

Up early so I can catch the really good sun, the sun that makes my diamante sandals sparkle as I walk, the sun that inspires me to have a 1950's style breakfast, the perfect sky to accompany me to the newspaper shop on a Sunday morning fashion pilgrimage.

Belated

A little late but Sunday was just grand and what better way to celebrate midweek than with sweet memories?

My husband and sister ran nine miles.

I baked chocolate freckles.

With such an early start we were able to make it over to the De la warr pavilion and get a balcony table and a seaside breakfast. Salty breeze, coffee and a spiced spanish biscuit.

Home for lunch. Bread, cheese and glasses of iced lemon and ginger cooler. Recipe to follow later.

An attempt to tidy the disaster that is my workroom while beautiful sea bass and courgette ribbon (get him!) salad was cooked for me by my husband.

Morning posting is always rushed as I am running late again. So farewell and have a fabulous Wednesday, only two days until the weekend.

Chasing sunbeams

Count That Day Lost

If you sit down at set of sun
And count the acts that you have done,
And, counting, find
One self-denying deed, one word
That eased the heart of him who heard,
One glance most kind
That fell like sunshine where it went --
Then you may count that day well spent.

But if, through all the livelong day,
You've cheered no heart, by yea or nay --
If, through it all
You've nothing done that you can trace
That brought the sunshine to one face--
No act most small
That helped some soul and nothing cost --
Then count that day as worse than lost.

George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans)

I hope this Sunday is as sunny as last week. Make the most of it and enjoy yours.

first blossom

Saturday. My weekend started with a candlelit dinner for Earth hour. It was nice to linger in the quiet still darkness and get away from the world for a while.

Sunday. Fruit toast. A walk in the park. First blossom. Grocery shopping. New linens. Cheese and bread.

Demolished

Sunday morning was spent eating sweets while I demolished the backlog of magazines that have been steadily stacking up the living room wall. From these all I have left is a one centimeter stack of images for my record the day collages. Today its off to the recycling centre for the remaining paper and then to town to seek some more record cards. The shop that supplied them before has sadly closed down so you may notice some gaps while I hunt to get them elsewhere.

Rainy days are sometimes the best

Rain splashing. Fresh coffee. Papers piled high. The melody of human voices. Waves crashing beyond a bustling cafe. Then the quiet of home.

4. I love helping my friends clean and re-organize their houses but have to really psyche myself up to do my own.

Sundays are nice

Log fire roast pork wine misty walks good friends muddy boots pretty towns steamy cafe almond croissant country drive pick a tree mistletoe back home unexpected mail bubble and squeak spiced cider cinnamon and maple pancakes candle flicker clove studded oranges scent of pine. Sundays are nice.

Last day of summer

I have to work three out of every four Saturdays and Dean is off to Vegas for a trade show next weekend. So I think this will be the last summer day out for us. Long drive. Beach walk. Pebbles and sand dunes. Hot coffee. A jar of dark chocolate biscuits that I managed to fit into my oversized handbag. Hope you are all enjoying the final days of this brief season.

Next time all the leaves will be red turning brown and we will walk in the woods. I am thinking of investing in a pair of these boots for each of us. Practical and cosy. It does get very muddy and quite treacherous in the woods around here. Think I might draw the line at the matching waxed attire?

Sweet sunday

Sunny sunday spent drinking coffee and reading papers in the Oldtown with my sweetheart. With a slow stroll home passing estate agents row, browsing alternative home options. I like this sunday ritual of ours I know its only a matter of time before we see the 'one' and make another terrifying leap for a higher rung on the property ladder. Later a quiet evening at home spent devouring this pretty little cake my sister (thank you x) gave me for my birthday. Inside it was filled with more chocolate, glacier fruits and nuts, absolutely delicious! I implore you to get one for yourself or a lucky someone from Choccywoccydoodah. If I was having a wedding cake I would be sure to get it from here, magnificent works of art created from chocolate. A very quiet evening indeed, I think the jet lag has got the better of the boy and he has disappeared. Sleeping like a baby. He doesn't take kindly to me referring to him as 'boy' but until he becomes the husband, being younger than me he's stuck with it.
Hope your sunday was as sweet as mine.
