Pine and pomegranate

Wishing your holiday's were all you hoped for. Mine were. One more party before I tidy all the decorations away and begin another year, will this one be even better?

books on my list 1

Summer just brings out the colours in me and top of my must have reading list is Sense of style Colour by Shannon Fricke. I want to dive right into the beautiful photos (taken by Prue Ruscoe) and soak up all the shades and tones strewn throughout its wonderful pages.

All images Prue ruscoe at the The names agency.

Decorate the world

Pretty garlands everywhere. I can't stop making these. So I have put a few more in the shop. Maybe I can decorate the world one string at a time.

Our home. My canvas.

Is it wrong that I want to repaint the living room some kind of palest Farrow and Ball white? I love the cosy deep grey but al the other rooms are so easy to decorate and change. The grey is not a friend to photography.

Its raining, its pouring.

You may notice in my last post below, that a friend will be drawing the names. Yes the husband is off again, this time to Greece on Wednesday. Meanwhile I shall bask in the glory of our decidedly damp English winter. The streets turned into rivers today as I walked home, rain filling my shoes as I skipped over giant puddles in my heels. But I can't complain valentines day is too commercial these days and hubby has spoilt me with delicious meals all weekend. He says everyday is like valentines day with him. I'm not sure about every day?! But he is becoming a rather amazing cook. As I reach for second helpings I see a battle with my skinny jeans coming on.
As well as eating I have been stitching new garlands from old woolen fabric scraps, delicate italian biscuit wrappers and paper doilies. Not many pictures as light is still an issue. But I have a three day weekend this week so I am looking forward to making the most of some extra hours of daylight. What are your thoughts on valentines day?

Shabby christmas

Wishing I was in New York today, two of my friends have been there in the last month and it makes me jealous! Its just so christmasy there. When we go I always drag the boy to the Shabby Chic store at 83 Wooster St. I could spend a whole day in there soaking up inspiration from the beautiful interior and displays, happily spending too much money, wishing it was my own shop. I know he secretly loves being surrounded by faded chintz and all that girly stuff (poor man).
I am also extra upset about missing the traveling collection of restored vintage prom dresses that were to eventually be sold in the New York Shabby chic store. And if I lived alone the bed linen below would have to be mine. I won't inflict that on him tho! I am a lucky girl I pretty much have the apartment how I like and he never made me suffer any kind of bachelor style decor : )
I just keep him quiet with a big flat screen TV and the remote controls (which never leave his hands!)
