Xmas/New Year Makeup Matte Eyes & MAC Rebel Lip

Hi lovelies,

Was getting a bit bored of having glitter all over my face & decided to do a matte look. Was also challenged on twitter to come up with a look using MAC Rebel Lipstick & here's what I did!

You can see the video here, but here's a quick break down of what I did...

Skin - MUFE HD Foundation, mixed with a smidge of MAC Face & Body in white, to lighten it slightly. Concealed under the eyes with MAC NW20 Select Cover Up.

Eyes - covered from lashes to brow with Brulee. Created an outer V & kept the crease super dark and defined (don't blend too much) using MAC Carbon. Defined the lashes with a very thin line of Clinique black gel liner. Loads of black mascara on top lashes only.

Brows - defined using Shu Uemura brow pencil, then darkened with MAC Carbon.

Cheeks - Illmasqua Nymph Blush & Chanel Bronze Universel to contour.

Lips - MAC Rebel Lipstick!

hope you like it!

A xx

FOTD & FOTN!

FOTD...
I forgot to post this when I put the video up a few days ago. This was done using the Bee Luscious Garden Girl Palette (click here to get 15% off one for yourself!).

I'm looking forward to creating some more looks with this. The shadows are ridiculously pigmented and blend out forever (make sure you have a couple of clean 217s!).

FOTN...
Last night was a friend's 30th birthday and instead of partying it up in town, we all piled round to his house for sophisticated drinks (read cocktails, jaeger bombs, cigars & twister...). Where we live in Scotland, it can be difficult getting home from the city after a night out so a house party is usually a preferred option for bigger get-togethers. It also means you don't get sore feet from wearing sky-scraper heels, you don't need to worry about a jacket or bag - it's great!

It also means that my makeup tends to be more relaxed than if I was going to a club and I took the opportunity last night to go for my current favourite 'naturally polished' makeup that I've been sporting for a few weeks now.

For daytime, I would wear this but without the liner on the bottom waterline. For evening, run a black liner along the waterline and et-voila! Daytime to Evening in one easy step!

There will be a video tut on this look up in about 3 days, but for the time being here is a list of products used...

FACEAtelier Foundation in Ivory
MAC Plum Foolery blush from Hark The Heraldry Tartan Tales compact
YSL Metallic Colourama Palette as a highlight on brow bone and cheek bones
MAC Patina & Satin Taupe E/S
Avon Gel Shock Liner in Black
YSL Mascara
Dior Lip Glow Lipbalm (read about the drama to actually buy it here!)
Shu Uemura Eyebrow Pencil Hard Formula 6 (Seal Brown)

What makeup have you been loving recently? do you have a 'go to' look? And what do you think of the perm a week on? I think I'm getting better at styling it and I am loving the volume!

A xx

FOTD & Happy Birthday Mum!!

Last week my mum celebrated her fif...shhhh birthday, but she was in Dublin for it, so we out for a quiet family meal this weekend instead. As I was running late, I had to squeeze getting pics into getting ready and yes, the first pic I am still wearing my dressing gown and my hair is only half done and very fluffy...

I was trying out some of my new Sigma brushes that arrived yesterday and have to say I am massively impressed with the fluffy eye blending brush I received. I will do a review post separately on these though.
so products used were...

Face
Benefit 'That Gal' brightening primer
Chanel Pro-Lumiere in 10
Chanel loose powder in Clair
Benefit 'One-Hot Minute' bronzer
Eyes
Sleek 'Original' palette E/S
Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner in Black
Benefit 'Bad Gal' lash waterproof
a very light touch of Shu Uemura eyebrow pencil
Girls Aloud 'Nicola Lashes' & Duo Lash Glue by MAC
Lips
Beaute Weightless Lip Creme in 'Girlina'

Today's FOTD

Hi there,
feeling inspired by yesterday's flash of colour, I decided to develop it a bit further today and add some E/S and blue mascara. The purple E/S I used was from my Sleek Palette 'Original' and even though it looks quite dark in the tray, it actually just gave a nice wash of pastelly lilac across my lid. I'm sure the colour would be build-able though, if required.

In addition to the Sleek E/S, I used Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Cobalt Blue and 17 Mascara 'Va Va Voom' in 'Electric Blue'. Lashes were curled with Shu Uemura curlers and eyebrow finished with Shu Uemura eyebrow pencil.

I was a bit worried that it would look a bit 80's but it seems to have turned out ok!

FOTD Featuring Beaute 'Girlina'

Morning beautiful people! Today this little beauty popped through my letter box from the fabulous peeps at Coco Beau, I ordered it on Saturday and it cost £22. It is of course, Girlina Weightless Lip Creme by Beaute. You saw me rave about 'Trace' a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I tried it, I knew I'd be back for more. I also ordered 'Fever' stain, which I will post in a few days.
The colour is very Barbie-esque and is a little scary on the swatch, but once I had it on and blended properly on my lips, it just melted into this amazingly beautiful girlie pink colour. So today's FOTD is dedicated to the team at Coco Beau who are lovely and are probably sick of hearing me rave about how fabulous they and Beaute are! Enjoy!

Products used are: Pro Lumiere in 10, Benefit Dandelion, Benetint, Chanel mascara (sorry the 'type' has rubbed off), Shu Uemura eyebrown pencil and Beaute WLC in Girlina

EOTN (Eye of the Night!)

My friend Claire and I went out for dinner this evening so thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity and make my eyes fancy. They kinda ended up looking like I had 2 black eyes since the colours I opted for were cranberry & black.... It actually didn't look anywhere near as gothic as it does in the pics!Products used were...
  • Chanel Teint Innocence in 05
  • Benefit Benetint
  • Benefit Dandelion Powder
  • Benefit One Hot Minute Bronzer
  • Sleek 'Sunset' E/S Pallette
  • Shu Uemura Eybrow Pencil
  • Benefit Bad Gal Lash
  • Ruby & Millie Lipstick in Red Sheer

And just for fun, here's an 'out take' from the pics I took this evening. I don't always look fab you know!!

It's All About The Eye... Brows

I don't think in 28 years, I have ever been fully happy with my eyebrows. They are sparse, pale, wonky; you got an adjective? It probably applies to my eyebrows.

Anyhoo, my friend had recently purchased a Shu Uemura brow pencil and after I gave it a go, I was sold. It arrived yesterday and the brows below were this morning's attempt (last night's debut took about 40 mins, took about 10 mins this morning).

As someone with quite oily skin, I've often found brow pencils slip off after an hour or so, but I've now had it on for 7 hours and it seems to be staying put. Also, the pencil is long... *nips off to measure...* to be exact: 7" or 18cms. For anyone who is unfamiliar with what 7" looks like, I've pictured it next to a kirby grip.

If you don't live anywhere near a Shu Uemura store or counter, contact the Neal Street store in London as they do Mail Order.

Brows aside, today's look is my usual day look. Some Chanel Pro-Lumiere, Bronzer (today I used One Hot Minute) Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner in Black, Bad Gal Lash Mascara and one of my previously reviewed R&M Lipsticks in 'Nude Sheer.
